About
It's time we bring transparency back to the nursing career altogether. Bedside Values is an online community to empower nurses to no longer feel undervalued, under-appreciated, and under-served. By providing easy access to resources and education, nurses can engage in a community allowing them to feel informed, empowered, and advocated for.
Every new nurse comes into the field bright eyed and looking to change the lives of others. I was one of these new nurses. I was quickly defeated when I realized the constraints healthcare facilities puts upon their nurses. I felt like I could not do my job to the best of my ability. For three years I was crippled by this feeling. I kept saying yes, even when I was exhausted, and slowly realized that healthcare facilities exploit nurses to unfathomable lengths. All while making us feel expected to pick up the slack wherever it may be. If I didn’t make a change quick I knew I would quit the career field altogether. One factor that keeps me going is my peers, I felt guilty leaving them in a failing healthcare system spinning their wheels. I decided to create bedside values to bring nurses together, to know you are not alone in your feelings. It is impossible to be the change we want to see by ourselves, but there is power in numbers. Patients, families, coworkers, HOSPITALS all need nurses. I want to expose the toxic behaviors of these healthcare facilities and lay pressure on them knowing we expect a change. Together, lets redefine the nursing career to the role we expected as that new nurse.
Our Purpose
Bring together nurses to form community driven change within the nursing career. Nurses deserve competitive pay, safe and standardized care practices, opportunity to continuing education, and up to date tools to perform job duties to the best of their ability. Bedside Values is a place nurses can come together to communicate issues and initiate the change healthcare so desperately needs.
Our Mission
Our goal is to support nurses through a community that empowers each other to make changes in healthcare.
You deserve to have an optimal work life balance and enjoy your job! Engaging in a powerful nurse community allows nurses to feel advocated for and informed on current events in healthcare.
